Questions from families
What ages and hours do you take?
Children who are 3 or 4 when school begins in September, in a Threes room and a Fours room. Mornings run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the school day to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
How does a tour work?
Book a weekday morning or call the school. You see both rooms and the yard with Katrin or a teacher, and children are welcome to come along.
What sets tuition?
Your child's room, the days you choose and whether your child stays for the school day. We go through the numbers at a tour.
How is a place held, and how does the waitlist work?
When we offer a place, a deposit holds it. When a room is full, families join the waitlist and we call in the order they joined.
Is Heather Shore licensed, and what are the ratios?
Yes. We are licensed as a child care center by Minnesota DCYF. Each age group has its own number of adults, shown beside the license.
What happens if my child is ill?
A child with a fever or a contagious illness stays home. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and a teacher stays close until you arrive.
What about photos?
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
What should my child bring?
A water bottle, a full spare set of clothes in a labeled bag, and the layers for the season. Lunch from home on school days.
How do you handle toilet learning?
Children in our rooms use the toilet on their own, and a teacher helps when needed. Accidents happen, spare clothes are in every cubby, and we handle it calmly. If your child is still learning, tell us at the tour and we will talk it through.
How do you handle a hard day?
Every child has them. A teacher stays close, gets down to the child's level and helps find words for what happened. If a hard day lasts, we call you, and we share what helped.
Still wondering about something?
Call the school or send a question, and Katrin or the office will reply within one working day.
