Family policies
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home until they are well, and we ask you to tell us what it is so we can let other families know. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and a teacher stays with them until you arrive.
Drop-off and pickup
A child goes home only with the adults on your pickup list. We ask to see ID until we know you, and we call you if someone who is not on the list comes to the door.
Late pickup
Please call us if you are running late. We would rather hear from you than wonder. If late pickups become a pattern, we talk it through with you, and the details are in the enrollment packet.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Morning programs include a snack at the low tables. On school days children bring lunch from home, and we keep it in the refrigerator. Tell us about allergies at the tour, and we ask for the details privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for school holidays, a break in late December and a week in spring. In dangerous weather, such as heavy snow or a deep cold snap, we may close, and we text families before 6:30 a.m. On days we stay open but keep children inside, you hear by 7:30 a.m.
What to wear and bring
Children go outside most days, so please send clothes that can get muddy, wet or covered in paint, and layers for the season. A full spare set stays in your child's cubby. Put a name inside every coat, boot and mitten.
Screens and phones
We do not use screens with the children. Teachers keep their phones put away in the rooms and the yard, except to call a family or in an emergency.
Questions about our policies?
Ask at a tour, or call the school. We are glad to go through any of them.
